ABOUT US
The Liverpool Show Choir motto is ‘Sing Yourself Happy’, and our choir family is about the joy of making music in a friendly, supportive and easy-going atmosphere. We are a non-auditioning ladies’ community choir which was set up in 2012, and we enjoy singing a varied repertoire from Musical Theatre to Pop songs. We love organising fun nights out to add to our sense of community and new members are always very welcome.
LSC relishes any opportunity to sing in Liverpool. Over the years we’ve given concerts at numerous venues across the city including the Cavern Club, the Reader Calderstones Park, the Palm House, Sefton Park Bandstand, Speke Hall, the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Alder Hey and at St George’s Hall for the launch of RISE, a campaign championing women. In September 2025, we were particularly honoured to sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ at the Labour Party Conference in recognition of the Hillsborough Law being introduced to Parliament.
Eurovision arrived in Liverpool in May 2023 which coincided with our 10th anniversary year, and we loved singing in various locations as part of EuroStreets Eurovision. Celebrating Sgt. Pepper at 50, we performed as part of ‘Mr Kite’s Musicircus’ at Aintree Racecourse and for LightNight Liverpool, we appeared at the Anglican Cathedral, the Everyman Theatre, the Walker Art Gallery and the Bombed-out Church. We’ve also featured as the backing choir for Sir Brian May at the Philharmonic Hall, Susan Boyle at the Liverpool Empire and for the national tour of ‘West End Women.’
In 2024 we were excited to close ‘Happiness', an exhibition celebrating the life and career of Sir Ken Dodd at the Museum of Liverpool, but to date, our most unusual performance has been on board an open-top bus in freezing January temperatures, singing ‘Toll Again’ with Atomic Kitten for an episode of ‘Joe Lycett's Got Your Back’ on Channel 4.
Liverpool Show Choir loves to collaborate with other musicians. We’ve participated in the UK Choir Festival in Manchester, the Sing for Pleasure Liverpool Showcase at the Tung Auditorium, and we’ve enjoyed performing with Allerton Brass Band, Brandhall Community, G: Force Gospel and Manchester Show choirs. We’re also very proud as a choir to have won awards for our singing! In 2018 we were the winners of the Overall Best Choir at the St Bride’s Choir Festival, having won the ’Give it some Welly’ cup at the inaugural Festival the previous year.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsal Information
Where?
We rehearse at the Quaker Meeting House, 22 School Lane, Liverpool. L1 3BT close to Liverpool Central station.
When?
We rehearse every Wednesday from 6.45pm-8.45pm, with sign-in and refreshments from 6.30pm and our warm-up is at 6.45pm. Once a month we have a Sunday rehearsal from 10.30am until 2pm at Sedgemoor House, 41, Sedgemoor Road, Norris Green. L11 3BR. This extra rehearsal gives our ladies more time for singing, chatting and eating lots of home-made cakes. Watch out Bake Off!
Do I need to read music to sing in LSC?
There’s no need to read music, although if you do, that’s great! We have music scores and lyric sheets to help us in rehearsals, plus recordings are available to all our members on Dropbox. Ros arranges our songs and medleys just for us, so they sit comfortably within our vocal ranges. These are often in 2 or 3 part harmony, as well as in unison, but as we learn our music by repetition, everyone feels confident they know when and what to sing!
Will I have to audition to join LSC?
You will never be asked to audition or to sing on your own in LSC. The emphasis in rehearsals is to have fun singing and to enjoy making music together as part of a group.
Does LSC rehearse all year round?
The fun at LSC continues all year round, apart from 2 weeks at Christmas, Easter and 5 weeks in the Summer!
Rehearsal fees
Each Wednesday rehearsal costs £8.00 and Sunday rehearsals are £5.00
FAQs
Am I a soprano or an alto?
We have 3 sections in LSC; Terrific Tops, Magnificent Middles and Beautiful Bottoms, aka Soprano 1, Soprano 2 and Alto! Ros, our Musical Director will chat to you when you first arrive and help you decide in which section your singing voice fits.
Which songs do we sing?
At LSC we love singing show tunes, which range from legit to contemporary Musical Theatre and we have ballads, up-tempo, folk and pop songs in our repertoire too.
Are performances compulsory?
We do have performances throughout the year in and around Liverpool, but these are completely voluntary, as are our rehearsals! LSC is a truly caring, friendly and supportive community and there is never any pressure on any of our members to perform.
Uniform
For concerts we wear purple T shirts and a colourful scarf which we have fun trying to tie before concerts! For more formal occasions we wear smart, sparkly black with scarves and for outdoor performances we wear snuggly purple hoodies in addition to our T shirts.
Social Events
We love socialising together almost as much as we love singing! We really enjoy our film nights and choir meals, especially at Christmas. In July each year we celebrate our beloved choir with a LSC Awards night. We're very lucky to have the Liverpool Empire and Everyman/Playhouse theatres close by, and recent LSC Theatre outings have included: Dear Evan Hansen, A Chorus Line, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, Billy Elliot, Kinky Boots, White Christmas, Paint Your Wagon, Sweeney Todd, Calendar Girls and Les Misérables.

KIND WORDS
"I want to say the HUGEST thank you to you for performing on the bandstand at the Christmas Ideal Home Show. You were absolutely amazing and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and that you will want to do it all again next year!"
- Becky S
"Thank you SO much to you and all the ladies for such an epic performance! The guests (and me crying with it being so powerful!) were completely in awe! Thanks so, so much!"
- Culture Liverpool
"The Liverpool Show Choir sang for Neil and Alexandra at their wedding and they sang beautifully. Leading them was their very creative and lovely leader Ros. They sang ‘A Thousand Years’ as Alexandra walked down the aisle and during the interval ‘Wonderful World’ and ‘My Life.’ After the Signing of the register, Alexandra joined in with the Choir, of which she is a member."
- Rev P
"I am so delighted to be part of Liverpool Show Choir. They are a fabulous group of ladies and singing with them makes me feel so good, it's like therapy!!"
"You invest so much time, thought and effort in making us sound like we do. LSC is such an amazing community to be part of. There's so much love, support and friendship in the group."
"Wednesday nights are the best, full of laughs and smiles with a fab group of people. Yes, we have all become friends and we enjoy every minute of it!"
"It was a wonderful experience for me and my family. Who thought Granma could sing? Both my daughters loved ‘Les Mis’ and cried. My mum loved ‘Electricity’ and my mum in law who has dementia sang along to the Beatles."
"Just wanted to say a personal thank you for all your hard work with LSC. Your enthusiasm and vitality have been exceptional, and you have encouraged us to give our best. We have certainly gelled as a choir and now have the confidence to go out and perform to the best of our ability."
"Performing ‘Thousand Years’ was pure 'hair on the back of your neck' time, it will stay with me as a standout performance. It actually felt like you were drawing the music from us and sculpting it with your hands, it was pure magic and very moving. One of those LSC moments when we are so much greater than simply the sum of the parts."
"’Les Mis’ always gives me goosebumps, but today it took on a life of its own & the emotion was a palpable presence. My legs were shaking when we finished and I truly believe, as the judges said, we do sing for each other."
"I loved today. It was such fun and I was delighted that my first performance went so well. Thank you so much. It was a very special day for me."
I am still following LSC online but ‘lurking’ in the background. Leaving LSC has been hard as it’s been part of my life for over 7 years. It has given me some wonderful friends and experiences. I have loved it all. I am hoping to join a local choir, but I know LSC will be a hard act to follow
I will never be able to express what our LSC nights mean to me, and the amazing effect they have in my life, especially during lockdown. You never fail to give us all a lift. It is very special indeed.Thank you, thank you, thank you a million trillion, quadzillion times over!
